Think twice: As potentially dangerous weather approaches, use your head

Some are simply curious.

Others feel invincible.

But the instinct that draws some human beings toward danger has the potential, at times, to put other people at risk.

You want to skydive or scale a mountain with no rope? Go ahead. It's your life.

But flirting with death during a significant

weather event -- like Hurricane Joaquin -- puts other lives at risk.

Experts do not yet know whether or not this storm will pass through Wayne County.

But they understand that if it does, and people take unnecessary risks, the men and women who put on uniforms every day -- from law enforcement and EMS to firefighters and military personnel -- will have to put themselves in harm's way, too.

So if the waters rise and the wind starts swirling, stay off the roads. You might be saving more than just your life.
