Tough run: Scott Walker bows out. Would you do it?

There are many conclusions that can be drawn from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's decision to suspend his presidential run.

One is simply that he just couldn't cut it.

But there is another aspect to consider -- and it is a reality for all those who put their hats in that particular ring.

This is one tough campaign.

Who really could stand the daily barrage of criticism, the microscopic examination of every word, every action and every moment of their past?

There are few people who could.

Walker has a good record in Wisconsin -- even though there are some who disagree with how he made it happen.

He is no slouch. And neither are some of the other candidates who decided to get out of the race.

But yet, when you listen to reports about him, you hear a whole lot of personal attacks and suggestions that he could not lead his way out of a paper bag.

The evidence proves otherwise.

Getting the best candidates for the nation's top job is tough enough.

It is going to be even tougher if this is going to be the new political campaign we allow.

It is something to think about, seriously.
