A little help: Seymour Johnson Air Force Base airmen did a good deed for city
More than a few airmen have invested more than a few hours in helping the city of Goldsboro put its plane back into shape.
The F-86 Sabre, newly refurbished, will now take its place at the entrance to the city's renovated downtown -- right above the Goldsboro sign.
And while it has taken a while, projects of this type are very time-consuming, those airmen should be commended for giving of their spare time to help the residents of Goldsboro honor their connection to the Air Force -- and history.
The plane will be part of the new changes downtown and will add a nostalgic and dramatic touch to the entrance to the area.
It is a sign of the connection that this county and city have had, and still have, with SJAFB.
And that is a legacy worth celebrating.
