School's out! Teachers and students ready for well-earned break

Did you hear the cheering Wednesday?

That's right. School is now officially closed for the summer season.

These last few days were spent cleaning up, closing out and making sure the schools were ready for the official shutdown.

And now they are.

As the summer begins, we should take a moment to say "thanks" to the men and women who work so hard every year to make sure our children learn what they need to learn to move forward with their grades and their lives.

There are many, many county teachers who go way above and beyond what is required to support their students -- sometimes with very limited resources.

There is no emphasizing enough how much these professionals affect their students.

They really do make a difference.

And a shout out as well should go to the administrators who deal with all the stuff that goes along with keeping a school running. They invest long hours, too, and make their jobs look easy when they are far from it.
