Pickle fun: Take a moment this weekend to enjoy local festival

You might not realize it as you wander up and down the streets at Saturday's N.C. Pickle Festival enjoying the food, fun and music.

You might not even think about it as you chomp down on a Mt. Olive Pickle or as you try your hand at one of the games.

What you don't know about the annual festival that draws thousands to the streets of Mount Olive every year is that a great deal of work has gone into making it seem like an easy, fun afternoon.

The festival committee is hard at work even now arranging the booths, making last-minute checks and determining what will happen when.

And these preparations are just the last checks on a list that has spanned more than a year.

So bring your family out Saturday.

And be sure to thank a volunteer.
