Trust whom? Proposed Iranian deal misses one very important detail

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us.

That is the mantra that U.S. officials should remember as they continue this charade that is a nuclear agreement with Iran.

There is a reason why some key allies in the region -- as well as others around the world -- are so shocked, even stunned, that the U.S. is continuing to negotiate with a country that has proven itself untrustworthy time and time again.

But this time, the negotiations center around a potential to build a weapon that could kill millions if it is used by a rogue government.

And no one is completely sure that Iran is not governed by just such an element.

That is why so many people are demanding that before any sanctions are lifted a strict, verifiable process is in place and the Iranians pass the inspection.

We cannot afford to make a mistake here -- and our allies cannot afford such an error either.

So pardon us if we wait to celebrate what the Obama administration is touting as an historic agreement.

There are just too many reasons to be cautious -- and worried.
