Remember: Take time today to really read Dr. Martin Luther King's speech

We talk about it every year about this time.

We quote some of the most famous lines from it.

But how many people have really read the whole text of the speech that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial that day in 1963?

And how many people have really studied his other speeches and his other messages as he led the fight for civil rights?

Today is the day to do just that -- even if you think you know what they say and what they mean. And, while we are at it, we should share that reading and that discussion with the young people in our lives. It is critical that they understand the message, too.

Keeping someone's legacy alive is not just about history, it is about the future. And both should be the focus today.
