A new chance: As another year dawns, it's time for new beginnings

There will be plenty of resolutions made this week -- everything from losing weight and quitting smoking to trying to be a better person in the new year.

And just as most people will try to set goals for themselves in 2015, so, too, should the community's leaders.

There are new faces on just about every major board -- and new leadership in some key county positions. Now is the time to consider new ideas, new procedures and, perhaps, a new way of looking at the challenges that this community faces.

Gone should be arguing, politics and ill will. If there was ever a time when the community's leaders could join forces to move this county forward, this is it.

Wayne County has had some really good news over the past year. There is a business boom, with more investment than ever, as well as progress made in some key development areas.

New leadership in the county schools office as well as some changes on the board just might be a chance to try some new ideas there, too.

With an eye to what's best for the future, as well as respect for each other's ideas, this could be the year that this county moves ahead.

And all it will take to get started is a whole new view -- and perhaps a resolution to try.
