Ad block? Is there such a thing as enough is enough?

If you can't recite the ads from the Kay Hagan/Thom Tillis race by heart now, you do not watch much television.

And they aren't the only ones. Even races across the Raleigh area that have a much more limited impact have joined in on the act, creating their own brand of mudslinging and "gotcha" politics.

If there is anything that the most expensive Senate race in history has taught us, it is that perhaps there should be a limit.

Maybe $100 million in attack ads funded by outside interests might be just a bit much -- and perhaps someone should do something about it before the next round of campaigning begins.

Forget the fact that political types don't seem to get that we don't want to see them. And forget that they are one-sided and often misleading.

The bottom line is that this type of campaigning is simply not good for finding the best people to lead this country.

In two years, we are going to have to decide who will take this country forward.

Before then, we better have a better way to figure that out.
