Job to do: Weekend event not end of push to meet United Way goal

If you could not attend this weekend's Taste of Wayne County, you missed some good eating and a lot of fun.

But even if you did not get a cupcake, a mini steak dinner or one of the other goodies that lined Center Street Saturday, that still doesn't mean you can't make a difference in your community.

The reason for the foodfest was not to increase waistlines. It was to raise money for and awareness of the United Way of Wayne County's annual fundraising campaign.

Money raised through this effort is used in a variety of ways -- but all for the benefit of members of the community who need help. And thousands of families are the beneficiaries of that assistance through local agencies every year.

So even if you couldn't buy a ticket this past weekend, consider making a donation to the United Way.

They are dollars that are very well-spent.
