Next ... No one is really sure whose names will be on 2016 ballot

It doesn't take much to get the presidential ticket sweepstakes spinning.

In fact, Paul Ryan's recent book tour has fueled speculation that former Republican nominee Mitt Romney might make another run at the brass ring.

But just like every other piece of tabloid gossip and secondhand commentary, no one really knows what the final outcome will be on either party's ticket. But that won't stop the rumor mill.

It will be interesting to see how the early predictions fare against the eventual nominees, but this is a presidential race that could hold a few surprises for both parties -- and perhaps even a few new names.

It will be a fun run getting there, that's for sure -- although we can all be prepared for more than the usual political mudslinging.

But no matter who makes the ticket, our job will be to figure out if the parties got it right.

And that, as always, will be a challenge in itself.
