Stuff the Bus: Your donations will help prepare a child for the start of school

It is something most of us don't think about. After all, we might assume, doesn't every child have what he or she needs to start school off right?

But the truth is that getting school clothes and supplies is an expense some local families struggle with each year -- and often many children go back to school without the tools they need.

Wayne County students rely on Communities in Schools, and they rely on us to help collect the many needed supplies. These students need everything, and no donation is too small.

A bus will be parked in the News-Argus parking lot on Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Help us stuff the bus with school supplies for needy children.

Buy a couple of extra supplies and bring them down to the newspaper office on Berkeley Boulevard. We will collect them for Communities in Schools, which will, in turn, identify needy children and make sure they get the supplies they need.

You would be shocked at how much small things mean to these youngsters -- a new binder, a backpack -- or even notebooks and pencils.

Join us in making their back to school special.
