Another hero: Derek Jeter will leave game with honor he deserves

Two days and two pieces of good news from the world of sports.

Many baseball fans and others are pausing today to honor soon-to-be-retired New York Yankee Derek Jeter.

The idea is to offer the baseball star a tip of the cap as he begins his final All-Star game.

And from the attention the call for the honor has received at #re2pect, especially from some pretty famous names, the movement might just catch on.

It has been a tough decade for the game of baseball. With more than a few scandals and all kinds of reputations tarnished by cheating, heroes have been hard to come by.

To be able to say goodbye to a player who has not only been a star on the field, but who likely will be able to stand by his record later when Hall of Fame time comes around is a welcome change.

Add to that a big heart and class, and you have a legend worthy of the hype -- and thanks.
