Believable? Let's get the truth first.

President Barack Obama has finally said something about the incredibly disturbing information that has been released about care for veterans at VA Medical Centers across the country.

And he has promised to get to the bottom of the scandals.

Perhaps he will. The investigation is still young. But it is getting harder and harder to believe anyone associated with Washington anymore.

Why? It is all about the coverup.

To pretend that for the last eight years, no one in Washington has known about the problems in the Veterans Administration is simply nothing but a fabrication.

There were clues, facts and complaints long before now. And Congress isn't innocent either.

There will be an investigation, of course. And a lot of mouth music, too.

But what we need to be wary of as this scandal continues to unfold is the spin.

This is bureaucracy run amok. And we need to insist that it get fixed now.

And that starts with insisting on the truth -- and real accountability -- right now.
