Speak up: Legislators are back in Raleigh. Tell them what you think.

There are reasons to question the agenda of some of the Moral Mondays marchers, but one thing is for certain: These people aren't shy about telling their legislators what they think.

So now that the legislature has opened its short session, perhaps a few more of us should speak up and let our leaders know what we want to see them accomplish now and in the future.

At the recent Eggs and Issues breakfast, the legislators in attendance encouraged their constituents to call them, to write them and to speak their mind.

And there is absolutely a reason to do just that.

Truth is, legislators, especially ours, do listen -- and often the community's input is critical in their decisions on one policy or another.

But if you do not tell them, they cannot know what is important to you.

So, let's speak up. Don't let the protest group in Raleigh be the only opinion your leaders hear.

Your voice matters -- as long as it is heard.
