Primary vote: There's not much on ballot, but it still needs your attention

There is not that much time left to gather information before making a decision on the issues expected to face voters on the May 6 primary ballot.

There are some challengers to decide on -- and perhaps a preview of a couple of battles expected to be top draws this November.

And, of course, locally, there is the city of Goldsboro's $18.9 million Parks and Recreation bond levy.

The problem with primary votes is that they tend to draw very little participation. Turnout is often so light, in fact, that issues are decided in some cases by a mere fraction of the eligible voters in this county.

Don't let that happen this time.

Voting in these off-elections is as important as participating in the presidential contests -- sometimes more important.

Taking an active role now makes you that much more familiar with the issues facing this community.

Now is the time to review the credentials and the sales pitches -- and to think about what might be the best decision for the future of this city, county and country.

Your voice is important.

So don't miss this chance to make it count.
