Political babble: Enough talking. Much, much more doing.

There is a line in a Seinfeld episode that applies absolutely to the current state of politics in the United States.

"Nobody needs to talk."

And perhaps that is the reason so many people just aren't listening to politicians anymore -- there are just too many of them talking.

Today, it is a promise of good things to come, and tomorrow it is more of the same old explanation for why things just are not working.

The same blame game, the same finger-pointing, the same politics as winning an election becomes so much more important than actually doing the right thing.

And here we, the voters, sit with the uneasy feeling that it really is not about us anymore -- or what is right for the country.

And in the meantime, there is more talking -- more speeches, more promises.

The only thing that is missing from the same old routine that has become the hallmark of modern politics is anyone anywhere getting anything done.

So perhaps it is time to not only stop listening, but also to stop accepting the same old rhetoric, the same old promises.

No more talking about the fact that people cannot find jobs and whose fault it is.

Instead, let's focus on actually determining what is causing the dearth of good-paying jobs and what it will really take to get employers hiring again.

No more babbling about lack of opportunity. Instead, more focus on what it will take to get more people working and fewer people relying on government programs to survive.

In other words, less talking and more doing.

All we need now is someone to explain the difference to the bureaucrats in Washington.
