95 years of faith: The Rev. Billy Graham is someone to be admired

Living to 95 is an achievement in itself.

Having an impact on the world -- and still being someone to whom a nation can look for strength and direction in good times and bad -- that is a cause for awe and respect.

The Rev. Billy Graham enjoyed a rather star-studded birthday party this week, blowing out the candles on that milestone cake.

And as has been his custom during his storied life, he took the time to thank those who had gathered to honor him and to humbly remind them that he has lived a blessed life filled with good friends.

The great thing about the Rev. Graham is not just longevity -- it is the life he has led and how closely it mirrors the faith he preaches.

And now, even though he is rich and famous, he is a simple man, from North Carolina, who still feels the calling to speak of the blessings and the faith that have defined his life.

His message is as applicable today as it was decades ago -- and his is a model for a life lived well and with truth and integrity.

And that, in this day and age, is an example to be emulated and a legacy to cherish.
