Role models: Students show initiative and will to make their own choices

It isn't just that they are praying, although that is nice.

It isn't just that they organized this group themselves and make sure it happens every day -- on their own.

What makes the prayer circle that some of the students at Wayne Early/Middle College High School have every morning special is what it says about the students in it.

They stand for something -- and they are willing to proclaim it.

In an age when so many adults are dialing down their public manifestations of faith because of political correctness and pressure, these students are standing strong.

No one tells them to meet, and no adult is behind the gathering. This is a group of students who believe in something and are making sure it remains a part of their lives.

They are not forcing their beliefs on anyone -- if you want to come, you are welcome.

But they are not shy about expressing their faith, either.

And that is brave, right and a breath of fresh air in this new sanitized society where "Merry Christmas" has been replaced by "Happy Holidays."

It is time for Christians to stand up and to call for the same respect given to other religions and belief systems in the name of "diversity."

And this time, they can be led by some not-so-little children who absolutely have it right.
