Wall help: The bill is paid for arrival, but there are still costs to cover

A group of Wayne County veterans and other volunteers are working hard to bring Wayne County a chance to honor heroes up close and personal.

The "Wall That Heals" is coming to this county in April because of the dedicated efforts of the Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition and others who want to share this traveling version of the Vietnam Memorial with their community.

But it costs money to make an event like this special. So far, there have been many, many generous donations to pay the fees associated with the wall, but now is the time to make sure all the other logistics are in place.

From flags to supplies for the volunteers during the wall's visit, there are still bills to pay.

And that is where we come in.

A donation of any size will help the veterans' group and others create the kind of welcome a monument like this deserves. There just isn't much time to get the money together.

So, please, consider sending a check to the Veterans and Patriots Coalition this week. Your donation will not only help make the Wall's visit special, it will be a chance to thank all those whose names are recorded on this traveling memorial.

The Wall's visit will be a moving one -- especially if we as a community continue to be a part of the effort.
