Just the facts: There will be more to say, but for now, testimony is critical

Most commentators have their own opinions as to why the events unfolded the way they did in Benghazi. And there will be plenty of time to express them later.

But for now, it is time for lawmakers to listen to the facts as presented by the former CIA director -- and to press for explanations about the timing, the comments and the actions that led to the death of an ambassador and several military personnel.

This is important. It is something that needs to be explored. And, most importantly, it is a demand for truth that should not be influenced by any form of partisanship.

And to make sure that happens, citizens in this country need to pay close attention and to demand answers. They should also remind the president about his promise of transparency.

This is the moment when actions should mirror words -- let's see if they do.
