Pickle success: If you were there, you know, fun was had by all

They made it look so easy.

For those who were lucky enough to head to downtown Mount Olive for the annual N.C. Pickle Festival, they already know, it was a whole lot of fun.

But don't for a minute think that all that frivolity is thrown together in a couple of weeks.

Julie Beck, pickle festival chairwoman, and her many, many volunteers should be commended for putting together an event that was not only fun, but safe.

And that is not easy.

If you did not get a chance to make your way to Mount Olive this weekend, you missed a party.

Community events like the Pickle Festival are very important not only for attracting visitors to our communities, but also to create the comradery and fun that make a community.

The N.C. Pickle Festival succeeded in all those tasks.
