Slow down: With all the travelers, taking your time is top priority

It's not like we would have to look hard to find something to talk about.

But today we wanted to take the time to remind all our readers and their families that this is a weekend to take it easy on the highways.

With all the congestion, all the travelers, the danger increases, and the likelihood that you or your family might be involved in an accident increases.

So slow down, put away the cell phones and heed all the rules. It is not worth the risk -- especially since, in the long run, it will likely save you only a small amount of time.

There is nothing worse than reporting a lost life because of a traffic accident -- and we have to do that too often.

We would rather be able to say that we lost no one this holiday weekend. And if you drive carefully, that's the news we will be able to share come Monday.
