Oops: They will try to explain it away, but it was a misstep

Whoever advised President Barack Obama to make a statement against the Supreme Court while it was making a decision on the health care mandate didn't think the idea through.

It was inappropriate at best and a violation at worst.

If the measure the justices are deciding had been an issue from which the president could have received a campaign boost, or if it was a Republican policy that was being challenged, he would have no trouble listening to the court.

But when the shoe is on the other foot ... .

The bottom line is that most polls show the majority of Americans have told the president they do not want government-run health care and have expressed concerns about the plan.

It is the president, not the Supreme Court, who is subjugating the will of the people.

He should remember that.
