Campaign 2.0: At least, this year's race will be interesting

Just when you thought it was safe to watch television and that North Carolina might not have to endure the robocalls and other hallmarks of a contested presidential primary, GOP candidate Rick Santorum goes and upsets the apple cart.

With his three-state sweep, voters are left wondering -- again - exactly who the front-runner is in this topsy-turvy race.

But even though the debates and bickering in the news media are getting a bit tiresome, and the pundits seem to have no earthly notion of who is really on top, it is kind of refreshing to see a battle to be the Republican nominee.

Although the fight has been bloody, and many people wish that there hadn't been so many hits, the truth is that a good debate about issues and a real discussion about the future of this nation is never a bad thing.

Look what happened last time we had a coronation at a convention.

The Republican race has been interesting -- and it looks like it will be interesting up until the end.

And when it is finished, we will have a candidate who not only wants to be the next president of the United States, but who has had to fight for the honor.

That should set up a nice debate -- a lively presidential race -- and the chance to make some informed decisions about the future.

And there is nothing wrong with that.
