Stop by for pizza: First step in The Final Lap campaign is tonight

Tonight it is pizza. Tomorrow it is a chance to improve more lives in your community.

The first step in the United Way’s “Final Lap” is tonight at the Pizza Inn on U.S. 70.

Superintendent Dr. Steven Taylor and members of the Junior Leadership Class of Wayne County will be on hand to serve it up from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The first goal is to put more money into the coffers of the United Way — the organization that marshals community dollars and directs them to worthy programs that serve residents of all ages.

The second goal is to remind you of how important you are to making a difference in your community and to challenge you to help the United Way reach its 2007 campaign goal.

The United Way is in the final lap of this year’s campaign — and there is still a ways to go to get the funds necessary to improve 29,200 lives next year.

Over the next few weeks, you will be asked to join in the fun as Wayne County motors toward that $1.44 million goal.

So grab the kids and load up the car — pizza awaits, as does the chance to make a difference in your community and the lives of your neighbors and friends.
