Mrs. Buskirk

Harper Story Gwatney of Raleigh and Benjamin Thomas Buskirk of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 5, 2015, at 4 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh, with the Rev. Edward Felix Hill Jr. and the Rev. James Harold Harry officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Thomas Gwatney Jr. of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. Thomas Gwatney Sr. of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Zebulon Wesley Harper of Deep Run.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Art degree in teaching from East Carolina University and a Juris Doctor from Campbell University School of Law. She is employed as assistant district attorney at Wake County District Attorney’s Office.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Scott Buskirk of Wilmington and Mrs. Martha Helmstadter Buskirk of Wilmington and the grandson of the late George Thomas of White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., Jane Harris Buskirk of Charleston, S.C., the late Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Helmstadter of McKeesport, Pa., and Dr. and Mrs. Frank L. Collins of White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in construction engineering and management from North Carolina State University and a Juris Doctor from Campbell University School of Law. He is employed as construction attorney at Lewis and Roberts PLLC.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her mother and father.

Mary Covington Coleman served as matron of honor, while bridesmaids were Kristen Ann Angerer; Margaret Mary Aiken Barrow; Elizabeth Buskirk Marella, sister of the groom; Suzanne Michelle Record; and Kathryn Jeffreys Rowlett.

Peter Scott Buskirk served as best man.

Groomsmen were Michael Drew Buskirk, cousin of the groom; Seth Peter Buskirk, brother of the groom; Joshua Allen Decker; Zachary Ryan Savage; and Luke Brandt Wind.

Ushers were Heny Clay McQueen Emerson, Andrew Clayton Hurd, Tadashi Walter Seuyoshi and Edward Van Velsor Williamson.

Kristin Holland of Viva L’Event directed the wedding. Margaret Gable Eller and Erin Logan Tollison distributed programs.

Ceremony director was Mary Ellen Hicks.

Scripture readers were John Patrick Finan and Jodi Heynes Strenkowski.

Reception greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Terry Davis Cottle Sr., Mrs. Milton Gray Whitford and Ms. Karla Norris Jeffreys.

Mrs. Lynne Moody Walker was vocalist and Josh Dumbleton was organist.

A reception was held at Merrimon-Wynne House Raleigh, N.C. A reception and dance was hosted by the parents of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Raleigh.

A rehearsal dinner was held North Carolina State University Club Raleigh hosted by the parents of the groom.

Events held before the wedding included a dinner party in Goldsboro, N.C., hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clinton Rouse Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Judson Aslan Cook at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rouse; an engagement party in Raleigh hosted by Ms. Margaret Mary Aiken Barrow, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Eugene Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Allen Decker, Mr. and Mrs. John Anthony Strenkowski and Mr. and Mrs. Luke Brandt Wind at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Strenkowski; an engagement party in Goldsboro hosted by family and friends of the couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barrett Logan; a monogram shower in Raleigh hosted by Mrs. Mary Covington Coleman, Mrs. Margaret Gable Eller, Mrs. Kathryn Jeffreys Rowlett and Mrs. Erin Logan Tollison at NoFo at the Pig; a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the City Club in Raleigh hosted by Mrs. Dannie Pipkin Brewer, Mrs. Dianne Creech Finan, Mrs. Kathryn Hilliard Lies, Mrs. Diana Hazel Pike, Mrs. Cora O’Daniel Sedlacek and Dr. Deborah Joliff Smith; a Christmas shower in Goldsboro hosted by Mrs. Milton Gray Whitford and Mrs. Susan Whitford Cottle at the home of Mrs. Whitford; a bachelor weekend in Bostic, N.C.; and a bachelorette weekend in Charlottesville, Va.
