Brooke Leigh Gray and John Marvin Wooten exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 17, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. John Howard officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Douglas Kim and Rhonda Kearney Gray of LaGrange and the granddaughter of the late Roland and Annie Long Gray of LaGrange and Ronald Lee and Joan Hicks Kearney of Goldsboro.

She is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2014 magna cum laude graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and a minor in business administration. She is employed at Strickland Insurance Brokers in Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of Marvin Graham and Joyce Johnson Wooten of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Elton Graham and Lillie Langley Wooten of Rocky Mount and the late John Herman and Marjorie Todd Johnson of Goldsboro.

He is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, and was selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He attended East Carolina University. After completing his junior year, he was drafted in the 2012 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Oakland Athletics. In 2013, he was traded to the Washington Nationals, and is currently playing within the organization.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory Lazaro antique silk-faced satin trumpet bridal gown with an alencon lace bodice and scalloped V neckline. The trumpet skirt had a floral lace hem border and a chapel train. She wore a cathedral-length pencil edge veil, and carried a cluster styled bouquet consisting of white Duchess peonies, stephanotis and variegated lily grass. The stems of this elegant bouquet were wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding gown.

Melissa Eason and Casey Vinson served as matrons of honor, while bridesmaids were Michelle Gay, Erin Gray, Jessica Gurley, Caroline Lewis and Lindsey Wooten.

Marvin Wooten served as best man.

Groomsmen were Ryan Eason, Chris Gosik, Walker Gourley, Blake Gray, Nolan Lancaster and Graham Wooten.

Junior groomsmen were Carter Kearney and Drew Kearney.

Ushers were Jake Bizzell, Josh Bizzell, Jacob Gray, Jason Gray, Jonathon Gray and Ethan Kearney.

Katharine Eason and Lilly Eason were flower girls.

Beckett Gray served as ringbearer.

Brian Taylor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Chelsie Spurgeon. Jessica Heath distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by The Fowler String Duo. Vocalists were Jill Howell and Jay Kornegay Jr.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Walnut Creek Country Club Jan. 16, 2015.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party at Maxwell Family Farm given by family and friends of the groom; a monogram shower hosted by Michelle Gay, friend of the bride, at her home; a bridal shower hosted by family of the bride at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church; a lingerie shower hosted by Casey Vinson, Erin Gray and Lindsey Wooten at the home of Casey Vinson; a bridal shower at Strickland Insurance Brokers hosted by the bride’s co-workers; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by Joyce Wooten, mother of the groom, at her home.

After a wedding trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, the couple resides in Goldsboro.
