Mallory Elizabeth Strickland and Richard Goss Kendall of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 17, 2014, at five o’clock in the afternoon at the Strickland family farm, with the Rev. Carolyn Sims and pastor Scott Hardy officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Charles and Wanda Davis Strickland of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Robert Wyatt and Alma Sutton Strickland of Goldsboro, James Earl Davis of Snow Hill and the late Camilla Wade Pender of Eureka. She is the great-granddaughter of Sallie Herring Strickland of Goldsboro.

She is a 2008 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2013 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in apparel merchandising. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She is employed at Strickland Insurance Brokers in Goldsboro as an underwriting assistant.

The groom is the son of Melanie Goss Kendall of Goldsboro and Richard Shawn and Pamela Hoggard Kendall of Pikeville and the grandson of Norman Drexler and Barbara Steber Goss of Goldsboro and Ruth T. Kendall and the late Col. Howard J. Kendall of Goldsboro.

He graduated in 2007 from Rosewood High School and attended Brunswick Community College. He graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Wayne Community College. He is employed at Goldsboro Builders Supply as a salesman.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory Maggie Sottero gown of scalloped illusion lace, tulle and Romance satin with lace motifs, a keyhole back and accented at the waist with a floral and beaded satin belt. She wore a cathedral-length raw edge tulle veil, and carried a bouquet of blush pink peonies, Queen Anne’s lace, Sarah Bernhardt peonies, anemones, Maria Theresia roses and seeded eucalyptus gathered with ivory satin and black and white gingham ribbons.

Abbey Nicole Strickland and Alexandra Hope Strickland, sisters of the bride, were maids of honor. Jenna Hope Rouse of Kinston, friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. Carrie Brooke Kornegay, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Richard Shawn Kendall, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Brandon Lee Barbrey and Garrett David Baker of Wilson, friends of the groom. Ian Phipps Strickland, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.

Ushers were Evan Paul Aycock of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, and Christopher Ryan Forsythe of Wilson, friend of the groom. Junior usher and Bible bearer was Jonathan Joseph Davis, cousin of the bride.

Veronica Luna Davis directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Ashley Brooke Kornegay, sister of the groom. Madison Laurie Aycock,cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

Emilee Quinn Pilkington of Durham, friend of the bride, was Scripture reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Florian Music trio; Jerry Strickland of Mount Olive, guitarist; and Mark Caughron of Kenly, vocalist.

Following the wedding, the bride’s parents hosted a tented reception directed by Brian Taylor of Goldsboro. Mary Candace Carter of Chesapeake, Va., greeted guests.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Saulston United Methodist Church May 16, 2014.

Events held before the wedding included a Christmas shower held at Saulston United Methodist Church in Goldsboro hosted by Emilee Pilkington, Donna Quinn and Angie Smith; a bridal shower hosted by friends and family of the bride at Saulston United Methodist Church; a lingerie shower hosted by Abbey Strickland and Jenna Rouse at the home of Abbey Strickland in Greenville; a his-and-hers shower at the Legacy Clubhouse in Goldsboro hosted by Dianne Brock; a bridal shower at Strickland Insurance Brokers in Goldsboro hosted by the bride’s co-workers; a bachelorette evening in Goldsboro hosted by Courtney Chauvin of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sara Dahl of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a bachelor weekend in Emerald Isle hosted by friends of the groom.

After a wedding trip to Jackson Hole, Wyo., the couple resides in Goldsboro.
