Susan Byrd Willoughby of Goldsboro and Joseph Henry Markley of Summerfield exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with Gary Bailey officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Phillip and Joan Palmer Frazier of Moncure and the late Richard Lynn Byrd.

She graduated from South Lenoir High School in 1982 and North Carolina Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree. She is employed as a manager of information technology at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Wilma Evans Markley of Austell, Ga., and the late Joseph Edward Markley.

He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1980, North Carolina Wesleyan College with a bachelor’ degree and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a master’s degree. He is employed as director of automation with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Middle District North Carolina.

The bride was escorted by her son, Austin Willoughby.

She wore a strapless ivory taffeta draped gown with lace and beaded appliqués.

Her headpiece was a fingertip veil with a beaded pearl and rhinestone edge.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of roses, hydrangeas, miniature calla lilies and hypericum berries.

Janet Byrd Hill was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lori Cole and Debbie Murphy.

Evan Markley and Jake Markley were their father’s best men.

Groomsmen were Austin Willoughby, Josh Willoughby and Matt Willoughby.

Mary Beth Williams directed the wedding. John Micheal Hill and Samuel Hill distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kim Honeycutt, pianist, Jake Markley and Delores Gray, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception and dance was held at the Brick Village. Bobbie Herring greeted guests.

After their wedding trip to Asheville, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
