Allison Courtney Newman of Goldsboro and Elijah Dain Pipkin of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. at Evansdale United Methodist Church in Wilson, with pastor Bobby Fletcher officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael Allen and Kathy Pate Newman of Fremont and the granddaughter of Ethel Showalter Newman and the late Henry Newman of Denver, Pa., and the late Leland Ray and Ladell Barnes Pate of Fremont.

She is a 2000 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College School of Nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Gary Wayne and Mary Keith Pipkin of Saratoga and the grandson of the late Ralph Edward and Joyce Pittman Pipkin of Saratoga, the late Daniel Van of Bailey and Bessie Perry Braswell of Nashville.

He is a 2001 graduate of Beddingfield High School and attends Wayne Community College. He is employed as a freelance writer.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white satin gown with twist tank straps, a V-neck bodice, side gather detail, a fit-and-flare skirt and a chapel length train

Her headpiece was a handmade vintage-inspired peacock blue double headband adorned with peacock feathers and a gold brooch.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white lilies, hypericum berries and peacock feathers wrapped in chocolate brown satin adorned with pearl pins.

Lisa Pate Gardner was her cousin’s matron of honor, while Candace Elaine Vause, friend of the couple, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ashley Pipkin Crisp, sister of the groom; Melissa Daw Carlsson, friend of the couple; and Shanna Ladell Corbett and Lindsey Newman Stengel, sisters of the bride.

Gary Pipkin was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Tony Pipkin, brother of the groom; Justin Crisp, brother-in-law of the groom; and Justin Owens, R. Finley Snipes III and C.W. Ballance, friends of the couple.

Ushers were Jason Corbett, brother-in-law of the bride, and Dennis Sauls, friend of the couple.

Logan Ladell Corbett, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Nathan Brock Gardner, nephew of the bride, was the ringbearer.

Kristin Garner directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mary Ellen Corbett. Keri McCahan distributed the wedding programs.

Meghan Johnson and Sherissa Hearne, friends of the couple, were the honorary bridesmaids

An intercessory prayer was performed by the Rev. Kent Carpenter.

A program of wedding music was provided by Cecilia Avery, pianist, and Kimble Pate, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson. Sandra Briggs cut the wedding cake.

After their wedding trip to the Tennessee mountains, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement dinner hosted by Lisa Gardner and Candace Vause; a bridal shower hosted by Lisa Gardner and Candace Vause; a shower hosted by the bride’s co-workers; a bachelorette weekend hosted by the bride’s sisters; a bachelor weekend hosted by R. Finley Snipes III; and a bridal luncheon hosted by the bride’s parents.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at their home.
