Emily Elaine Baker and Edward Anthony Coggins of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 25 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville, with the Rev. Franklin G. Stallings officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Tony Franklin and Karen Denning Baker of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Freddie Franklin and Joyce Tart Baker of Dunn and Facie Junior and Pauline Howell Denning of Pikeville.

She is a 2005 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, a 2005 North Carolina Teaching Fellows recipient and a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a teacher with Johnston County Schools at Micro-Pine Level Elementary.

The groom is the son of Edward Harris Coggins II and Maureen Tibbetts Coggins of Thomasville and the grandson of Mary Norine Stanley of High Point, the late Edward Harris Coggins I and Eva Ruth Tibbetts of Readfield, Maine, and the late Kenneth Malcolm Tibbetts.

He is a 2005 graduate of Thomasville High School, a 2005 North Carolina Teaching Fellows recipient, and a 2009 and 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in teaching. He is employed as a teacher with Wayne County Schools at Charles B. Aycock High School.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory dress with a beaded lace trumpet with pleated empire bust and a ruched charmeuse empire band with a twist knot and a sweep train.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white and ivory roses with blue delphinium and hydrangeas.

Amber Baker was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Karen Peele, Janice Hansen, Mary Christoph, Brittany Ballance and Cynthia DeBruine.

Edward H. Coggins II was best man.

Groomsmen were Daniel Clemens, Joseph Conway, Andrew Richards and Brandon Coggins.

Ushers were Bradley Fisher, Brock Meyer and Hunter Berryman.

Hailey Berryman was flower girl.

Amy Fisher and Pett Hare directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Freda Friede.

A program of wedding music was provided by Thomas Vick, pianist; Katie and Karen Stallings, vocalists; and Jessica Coggins, guitarist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

After their wedding trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah Valley, the couple will reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a “Thirty-one” shower March 5 hosted by Freda Rouse; a a shower April 17 at Pleasant Grove Church hosted by the bride’s church and family; a lingerie shower June 18 hosted by Cynthia DeBruine and Amber Baker; a bridal luncheon June 19 hosted by Pett Hare; and a shower at Micro-Pine Level Elementary hosted by the bride’s co-workers.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Pikeville-Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
