Winslow-Hamm
Anna Elizabeth Hamm and Lloyd Newbern Winslow III exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 9 at 11:30 a.m. in the backyard of the Boat House next to the Bogue Sound, with the Rev. Alan Joyner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Stuart Alton Hamm and Susan Peele Hamm of Snow Hill and the granddaughter of Stuart Nelson and Loretta Harrell Hamm of Snow Hill and Elwood Cox Peele Jr. and Linda Walker Peele of Greenville.
She is a graduate of Arendell Parrott Academy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is employed at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Lloyd Newbern Winslow Jr. and Pattie Lewis Winslow of Halifax and the grandson of Lloyd Newbern Winslow and the late Eva Kitchin Edwards Winslow of Halifax and the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Frances Whitehurst Lewis of Farmville.
He is a graduate of Hobgood Academy and a summa cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. He is employed as a farmer in Halifax County.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless beaded lace gown with an empire waist and a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a veil accented with pearls worn with a beaded comb.
The bride carried a mixed bouquet of roses, tulips, lilies and orchids. Tied into her bouquet was a blue topaz ring that belonged to the her late aunt, Leigh Hamm.
Caroline Walker Hamm of Greenville was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kelly Chesson Cobb of Farmville and Keri Chesson Sugg of Snow Hill, cousins of the bride, and Carol Winslow Caldwell of Greenville, cousin of the groom.
Lloyd Newbern Winslow Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Benjamin Lewis Winslow of Halifax, brother of the groom; Stuart Alton Hamm Jr. of Snow Hill, brother of the bride; and Peter Nicholas Caldwell of Greenville, cousin of the groom.
Presiding at the register was Lauren Peele Hurdle of Winterville, cousin of the bride. Christopher Bryan Chesson of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Janet Joyner, vocalist, and Gen Bolena, harpist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a luncheon reception at the Boat House.
After their wedding trip to Disney World, Fla., the couple will reside in Scotland Neck.
Events held before the wedding included a Christmas shower Jan. 8 at the home of Phyllis Hamm Chesson of Snow Hill, aunt of the bride, hosted by Kelly Chesson Cobb and Keri Chesson Sugg; a cookout Feb. 19 in Scotland Neck at the home of Mahlon and June Whitehead hosted by the Whiteheads and Steve and JoAnne Uzzell, friends of the groom’s parents; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 27 hosted by friends at Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church in Walstonburg; a bridal shower March 12 at the home of Caroline Long of Farmville, aunt of the groom, hosted by Ms. Long, Nan-Et Charles, aunt of the groom, and family members; a pig picking and yard and garden shower March 19 at the home of Jay and Shelia Carraway of Snow Hill hosted by friends of the bride’s parents; a bridesmaids’ luncheon March 19 at the Whitley House in Farmville hosted by Linda Peele, grandmother of the bride, Penny Sugg and Phyllis Chesson, aunts of the bride, and Larry Harrell, uncle of the bride; a shower March 20 at the home of Joyce Winslow of Halifax, aunt of the groom; and a reception and dance April 29 at Yankee Hall Plantation hosted by the bride’s parents.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Boat House.
