Paige Keith Stewart of Raleigh and Joseph John Harper III of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church, with the Rev Judy Drye and the Rev Martin Armstrong officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Milton Keith and Lynda Davis Stewart of Fremont and the granddaughter of the late Jesse Southerland and Jessie Keith Stewart of Fremont and Olga Wooten Davis and the late Otha Durwood Davis of Goldsboro.

She is a 2004 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, a 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University with a master’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a teacher with Wake County Public Schools.

The groom is the son of the hon. Joseph John Harper Jr. and Anne Winfree Harper of Tarboro and the grandson of Mildred Miffleton Harper and the late Joseph John Harper of Leggett and the late Willard Cabell and Nellie Owen Winfree of Mannboro, Va.

He is a 1999 graduate of Tarboro High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in history. He is employed as a social media manager at CenturyLink.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an organza ballgown with a structured, dropped waist bodice. Lace corded appliqués adorned the bodice and cascaded onto the pocketed full-pleated skirt. She wore her grandmother’s locket.

Her headpiece was fashioned from her mother’s wedding veil.

The bride carried a white hand-tied bouquet of peonies, roses, wax flowers and freesia wrapped in appliqués from her mother’s wedding gown.

Rebecca Anne Phillips was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Nicole Marschhauser Stewart, Amanda Harper Patterson, Bethany Jackson Jordan, Elizabeth Ann Stewart, Rachel Helen Rockett, Claire Elizabeth Ross and Jenna Grey Wooten.

Joseph John Harper Jr. was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Leslie Southerland Stewart, Jay Lewis Stewart, Lee Simmons Patterson, Justin Michael Watts, Robert Houston Tillery, Charles Grey Robinson and Benton Marks Whitley.

Betsy Smith directed the wedding, assisted by Jenny Morris. Presiding at the register was Jessie Arletcy Stewart. Kenan Lewis Stewart distributed the programs.

Garland bearers were Bea Stewart and Harper Patterson.

Bible bearer was Claire Stewart.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sylvia Overman, organist, pianist and violinist; Jenny Heim and Farah Davis, violinists; and James Benton Davis, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson.

After their wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., and later to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party and surprise Christmas shower Nov. 27 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stewart in Wilson hosted by the Stewarts, Hank and Shari Stewart, Polly and Lamont Whitley and Gwynne and Julian Nelms and families; a shower Feb. 5 at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tarboro hosted by friends of the groom’s parents; an engagement Party at Main Street Inn in Tarboro Feb. 26 hosted by friends of the groom’s family; a shower Luncheon March 20 hosted by Lauren Rouse; a shower March 27 at Fremont United Methodist Church hosted by Betsy Smith, Sylvia Overman, Amy Price and Emily Gamble; a bachelor weekend April 16 and 17 hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower April 16 and 17 hosted by the bridesmaids; a favorite things shower and hat party April 23 at the home of Terry Barnes hosted by friends of the bride’s family; a surprise shower April 27 in the bride’s classroom hosted by her students; an after rehearsal party April 29 at Quince in Wilson hosted by friends of the groom’s family; and a bridesmaids’ beauty brunch April 30 at Emerge Medspa and Salon in Pikeville hosted by friends of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Quince in Wilson.
