Lauren Griffin Moore and Lenwood Chad Horton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at First Church of Christ in Washington, N.C., with Mark Lilley officiating, assisted by Doug Radford.

The bride is the daughter of Larry and Shelia Moore of Washington and the granddaughter of Shelton and Frances Moore of Washington and the late Marilyn Moore, Archie Griffin and Mildred Griffin.

She is a graduate of Beaufort County Community College with an associates degree in accounting and business administration. She is employed by VT Hackney as the human resources coordinator.

The groom is the son of Lenwood and Sharon Horton of Goldsboro and the grandson of Peggy Blanton of Goldsboro, the late James Blanton, W.B. Horton and Paulene Horton.

He is a graduate of Wayne County Community College. He is employed as the manager of Kemp Recyclers in Chocowinity.

The bride was escorted by her father.

She wore an ivory satin gown with a fitted bodice, a champagne cuff neckline and lace-up back with a full pick-up skirt and a sweep train.

Her headpiece was a shoulder-length blusher veil.

The bride carried a bouquet consisting of orange calla lilies, ivory roses and alstromerias.

Jamie Lyn Smith was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lacey Jane Batts of Williamson, Ashley Marie Gladson of Nashville, Tenn., Jamie Lyn Lilley of Morehead City, Caroline Hamilton McRoy of Chocowinity and Laura Elizabeth Jennette and Crystal Waters Woolard of Washington.

Lenwood Aaron Horton was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were James Robert “Robbie” Blanton of Princeton, cousin of the groom, Douglas Lester Branch of Winterville, Michael Carroll Horton of Hertford, brother of the groom, Aaron Neal Kornegay of Goldsboro, Christopher Eugene Bryson of Seven Springs and Daniel Lee Smith of Blounts Creek.

Mary-Morgan Elizabeth Beeman of Washington was flower girl. Colston Jay Lyons and Caeden Jon Lyons of Washington were ringbearers.

Presiding at the register was Jordan Leigh Woolard of Washington. Nicole Radford and Lauren Vann Radford of Wilson distributed programs. Ronda Bass Lyons of Washington was mistress of ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Redeemed Quartet, His Hands Quartet, Meredith Mobley, Jonathan Hudson and Carl Smith Jr.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church family life center. A five-tier square ivory wedding cake with a champagne swirl design was served. Gary and Dawn Hamilton, Wayne and Cathy Craig, Jimmy, Jennifer and Ragan Harris and Jeremy, Pam and Anna Shadle of Washington greeted guests. As guests were leaving, they were wished well by Granville and Anna Lilley and Steve and Pam Griffin of Washington, uncles and aunts of the bride, said goodbyes.

After their wedding trip to Ocracoke, the couple will reside in Blounts Creek.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party June 12 at the river home of Steve and Pam Griffin hosted by family of the bride; a recipe shower June 27 at Asbury Church of Christ hosted by Crystal Woolard; a floating bridal shower Aug. 21 at First Church of Christ in Washington hosted by friends of the bride; a floating bridal shower Sept. 11 at Spring Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro hosted by the groom’s family; a bridal shower at Frank’s Pizza Sept. 21 hosted by co-workers of the bride from Hackney; a shower Sept. 25 at the home of Chris and Melanie Bryson of Seven Springs hosted by the Brysons; and a bridesmaids’ dinner and lingerie shower Oct. 14 hosted by Ronda Lyons, Missy Parker and Roxanne Beeman.

The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner in the First Church of Christ family life center.
