BUIES CREEK — Ashley Elizabeth Sugg and Matthew Keith Ruffin exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 22 at 2 p.m. at Butler Chapel at Campbell University, with Marty Gurganus officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael Everette and Linda Kay Sugg of Clayton and the granddaughter of Noah and Myrtle Sugg of Farmville and Wayne and Lou Brown of Snow Hill.

She graduated with honors from South Rowan High School and magna cum laude from Campbell University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in trust and wealth management and a master’s degree in business administration. She is employed at Parrish, Pulleyn and Young Wealth Management.

The groom is the son of Randolph Keith and Denise Little Ruffin of Goldsboro and the grandson of Bobby and Peggy Ruffin of Sims and Curtis and Gray Little of Wilson.

He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School with honors and Campbell University in 2010 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. He is employed as a pharmacist at Walgreen’s Pharmacy.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a cream-colored strapless gown with a pleated crossover bodice and a sweetheart neckline. The empire waist accented a modified A-line skirt of Chantilly Lace over a charmeuse satin lining with a chapel-length train. Offset at the empire waistline was a satin bow with a crystal brooch adorning the center.

Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil of English netting.

The bride carried a bouquet of miniature calla lilies wrapped in satin and lace.

Jamie Langston was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Allison Fonvielle and Brittany Byrd, friends of the bride.

Tyler Ruffin was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Steven Cava and Jarrett Barnett, friends of the groom.

Betty Sugg, aunt of the bride, and Colista Freeman, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jennifer Bowden, cousin of the bride. Jennifer Bandy, cousin of the groom distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Lee Honeycutt, cousin of the bride, vocalist, and Dr. Daniel Hester, organist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s family hosted a reception at The Howard House in Dunn. Debbie Sawyer, aunt of the groom, cut the wedding cake.

After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Clayton.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party in October 2008 at the Brass Lantern in Dunn hosted by Jamie Langston; a Pampered Chef shower in September at the J.A. Campbell House in Lillington hosted by Jamie Langston; a holiday shower in December at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro hosted by the groom’s mother; a shower in February at the home of Debbie Sawyer in Wilson hosted by Ms. Sawyer, aunt of the groom, Gray Little, grandmother of the groom, and Rhonda Payne, cousin of the groom; a lingerie shower in March in Lillington hosted by Allison Fonvielle; and a shower in April at Clayton Steakhouse in Clayton hosted by Betty Sugg, Willamina Sugg and Nancy Henderson, aunts of the bride.

The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Barrington House Bed and Breakfast in Dunn.
