King - Johnson
RALEIGH — Amy Nicole Johnson of Elkridge, Md., and Matthew Russell King of Elkridge exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sunday at 4 p.m. at Caffe Luna, with the Rev. Judy Drye officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Cheryl and Gene Hooks and the late Mark Johnson of Fremont and the granddaughter of Leroy and Betsy Johnson of New Bern and Curtis and Jean Hinton of Goldsboro.
She is a 2008 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and attends the University of Maryland Baltimore for a master’s degree in social work. She is employed as trainer/coordinator at Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence.
The groom is the son of Patti and Michael King Jr. of Pikeville and the grandson of Michael King Sr. of Forsyth, Ga., Becky Dondero and the late David Dondero of Huntingtown, Md., and Charles and Doris Easterling of Columbia, S.C.
He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 2009 with a Master of Science degree in material science and engineering. He is employed as a research engineer in Baltimore, Md.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her mother.
She wore a silk gown with a sweetheart neckline enriched with ruching on the bodice, a corset back and an A-line skirt. The gown was sprinkled with crystal embellishments.
The bride carried a bouquet of white peonies.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Guercio, Megan Johnson, Mary Beth Hooks, Mindy Lane, Emily King, Lara Hooks and Regina Everett.
Groomsmen were Rodney Bass, Christopher King, Nicholas King, Chris Oldham, Kyle Hooks, Ross Guercio and Taylor Medlin.
Meghan Connor directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Caffe Luna.
After their wedding trip to Napa Valley, Calif., the couple will reside in Elkridge, Md.
Events held before the wedding included a wine and cheese party March 13 at the home of Cheryl and Gene Hooks hosted by Megan Johnson, Taylor Medlin, Jennifer and Ross Guercio; a lingerie shower March 14 at the home of Mary Beth Hooks hosted by Ms. Hooks, Beth Hooks and Regina Everett; a girls’ dinner party April 30 at Willow Springs Country Club hosted by Lynn Hill, Cindy Johnson and Elizabeth Blanton; a bridal shower May 1 at the home of Sally Tyndall hosted by Lauren Rouse and Ms. Tyndall; a celebration cookout May 1 at the home of Mike and Patti King hosted by the Kings; a wedding shower May 8 in Raleigh hosted by co-workers at Wake County Human Services and Interact; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 22 at 518 West Restaurant in Raleigh hosted by Mindy Lane and Becky Glover.
A rehearsal dinner was held May 22 at Porter’s Tavern in Raleigh.
