AYDEN — Kristen Nichole Freeman of Goldsboro and Anthony Bradford Evans of Mount Olive exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 15 at 5 p.m. at Elm Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, with Dr. Franklin Baggett officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Theresa Conwell Freeman of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of William and Claudia Freeman of Orlando, Fla., and Charles Conwell and the late Phyllis Conwell of Goldsboro.

She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2004 and Mount Olive College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is employed with BB&T in Wilson.

The groom is the son of Anthony and Pamela Smithwick Evans of Grifton and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Evans and the late Betty Lou Evans of Ayden and Charles and Annetta Smithwick of Grifton.

He graduated from Ayden Grifton High School in 2002 and Mount Olive College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure studies. He is employed with Mount Olive College.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white strapless A-line gown covered with Alencon lace appliqués covered with crystals and bugle beads. The hemline of the gown was completed with an Alencon lace scallop. The chapel-length train featured matching appliqués and lace trim.

Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil trimmed in crystals made by her mother.

The bride carried a bouquet of roses, peonies, calla lilies, ranunculus, green hypericum berries and lime orchids.

Erica Freeman was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Rebecca Seagle, friend of the bride; Nisia Broadie, cousin of the bride; and Kelley Evans, sister-in-law of the groom.

Anthony Evans was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jordan Evans, brother of the groom, and John Pearson and Michael Garrett, friends of the groom.

Donna Tyson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Athena Letchworth. Ashley Smith and Sara Letchworth distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Steve Letchworth, pianist, and Brian Letchworth and Kelley Evans, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at the church.

After their wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple will reside in Mount Olive.

Events held before the wedding included a Christmas shower Jan. 9 hosted by Jordan and Kelley Evans; a wedding shower April 11 hosted by Elm Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church; a bachelorette and lingerie shower April 24 and 25 hosted by Erica Freeman and Athena Letchworth; a bachelor weekend April 24 and 25 hosted by the groom’s friends; a miscellaneous shower May 6 hosted by co-workers of the bride, a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 8 at Murphy’s Place hosted by Annetta Smithwick and Pamela Evans; and a miscellaneous shower hosted by the groom’s co-workers.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the church.
