KINSTON — Leah Meredith Sutton and Michael Ladd Oglesby exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Frank Purvis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Teresa Sutton of Kinston and the granddaughter of Douglas and Judy Sutton of Cedar Point, Peggy Sutton of Kinston and Edmond and Hazel Taylor of Deep Run.

She is employed as an elementary teacher with Johnston County Schools.

The groom is the son of Ladd and Teresa Oglesby of Goldsboro and the grandson of the Rev. Charles and Marguerite Oglesby of Kinston, Reba Butts of Goldsboro and the late Walter Butts.

He is employed as a structural engineer at Vertical Solutions Inc. in Apex.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Cayla Sanderlin was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Carrie Austin, Caroline Barrow, Vanessa Burge, Casey Francis, Emily Hurley, Jennifer Pelletier, Stephanie Stallings and Kelly Wilson, sister of the groom.

Ladd Oglesby was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Hal Blake, Brett Butts, Charles Francis, Todd MacCoy, Michael O’Connor Jr., Aaron Sutton, and Jacob Sutton and Jared Sutton, brothers of the bride.

Kacey Cooper was the junior bridesmaid.

Bernice Fordham directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kate Cooper and Hope Lapsley. David Cooper and Taylor Lapsley distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Gail Barnard, pianist, and Chris Jarman and Joey Coor, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Community Council for the Arts in Kinston.

After their wedding trip to the Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Smithfield.

Events held before the wedding included an around-the-house shower at the Folded Napkin in Kinston hosted by Kelley King and Jan Sutton, aunts of the bride, Cayla Sanderlin, cousin; a miscellaneous shower Oct. 25 at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston hosted by Angela Barrow, Loretta Campbell, Laura Dawson, Pamela Griffin, Elizabeth Radford and Tammy Winstead; a miscellaneous shower Nov. 1 at Northview Baptist Church hosted by the Baptist Women’s Fellowship; a cookout Nov. 6 at Vertical Solutions in Apex hosted by co-workers; a Christmas shower Nov. 15 at the Pelletier home hosted by Jennifer Pelletier, Kathy Pelletier and Stephanie Stallings; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon Nov. 20 at Our Picnic Basket in Kinston hosted by the bride’s aunts, Tonya Cooper, Tamara Lapsley and Tracie Taylor, aunt of the bride, and Hazel Taylor, grandmother of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Nov. 20 at Lane Tree Golf Club.
