CHARLOTTE — Christina Leigh Argeris of Charlotte and Mark Alan Thigpen of Charlotte exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 1 at 3 p.m. at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Toole officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dana C. Argeris of Ocean, N.J., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Blanc of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCormack of Mill Creek, Wash., and the late Mr. Stephen Argeris of Deal, N.J.

She graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in hotel, tourism and restaurant management. She is employed as public relations manager at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. George D. Thigpen of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Earl Thigpen, Mrs. Dolphus Abram Bell and the late Mr. Bell of Goldsboro.

He graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and a BSBA in accounting. He is employed as a sales manager for DockPro.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore an ivory lace couture gown with a strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline. The empire waistline was accented with a charmeuse band. Satin bridal buttons down the back of the gown led to a modified A-line skirt that flowed into a scalloped hemline. She wore a sixpence in her shoe, worn by the groom’s mother on her wedding day.

Her headpiece was a fingertip veil of silk illusion edged in ivory satin.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of cream hydrangeas and roses.

Elizabeth Jane Argeris of Washington D.C. and Meredith Ann Argeris of Philadelphia, Pa., were their sister’s maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Priscilla Delgado Argeris of Washington D.C., sister-in-law of the bride, and Lindsay Spencer Bowman of Dubai, college friend of the bride.

George Douglas Thigpen was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Stephen Dana Argeris of Washington D.C., brother of the bride; Jeffrey Robert Bell of Durham, cousin of the groom; and Michael Xavier Papera of Hockessin, Del., fraternity brother of the groom.

Michele Gauvin directed the wedding.

Erin Akin Carroll of Columbia, S.C., and Adair Smith Yatko of Charlotte were readers.

Kristina Egger Panuski of Davidson and Amanda Britt Saari of Charlotte greeted guests.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kathy Bartlett, vocalist, and Carol Chase, organist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a cocktail hour dinner reception and dance at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge.

After their wedding trip to Bora Bora, the couple will reside in Charlotte.

Events held before the wedding included a bachelor weekend May 1 in Islamorada, Fla.; a bridal shower luncheon May 16 at the home of Sandra Bell of Goldsboro hosted by Ms. Bell, Emily Gibbons and Reagan Bell; a bridal shower June 6 at the home of Adair Yatko in Charlotte hosted by Erin Carroll, Kristina Panuski, Elizabeth Argeris, Ms. Yatko and Meredith Argeris; a bachelorette weekend June 20 in Isle of Palms, S.C.; and a farewell breakfast Aug. 2 at Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge hosted by the bride’s parents.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner July 31 at Providence Country Club in Charlotte.
