WILMINGTON — Kelly Marie Hower and Brian Garrett Mull of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 17 at 4 p.m. at The Balcony on Dock Street, with the Rev. Jack M. Sampier Jr., brother-in-law of the groom, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Ambie Hower of Wilmington and the granddaughter of Arthur and Nancy Hower of Nazareth, Pa., and James and Joy Abruzzese of Pen Argyl, Pa.

She is a graduate of Hoggard High School in Wilmington and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She attends the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for a degree in elementary education.

The groom is the son of Gary Ray Mull of Conway, S.C., and Jane Brown Mull of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Nolan Mull Sr. and Merle Mull of Morganton and the late George and Dorothy Brown of Greenville.

He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed as a sports writer by the NY Times Co. at the Wilmington Star News.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory tea-length strapless gown of all-beaded lace tulle embellished with a narrow satin ribbon encircling the waist.

Her headpiece was a single-tiered veil of silk illusion accented with crystals and miniature pearls.

The bride carried a bouquet of yellow and white irises with a filler of yellow solidago and maidenhair fern hand-tied with satin ribbon and pearls.

Meredith Stinnett was her friend’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ashley Mull Sampier, sister of the groom, and Rachel George, friend of the couple.

Gary Mull was his son’s best man.

Ushers were Tim Hower, brother of the bride; Walker Rudd, friend of the groom; and Jacob Abruzzese, cousin of the bride.

Hannah Sampier and Mackenzie Sampier, nieces of the groom, and Jordan Abruzzese, cousin of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Zoe Sampier, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Mrs. Rick Cameron directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was presented by Jenny Heim, violinist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Balcony on Dock Street.

After a wedding trip to the mountains of Maryland, the couple resides in Wilmington.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower April 18 at Pine Valley Methodist Church in Wilmington hosted by family and friends; a bachelorette party May 14 in Wilmington hosted by friends of the bride; a golfing event May 16 at Wilmington Municipal Golf Course; and a picnic May 16 at Hugh MacRae Park hosted by family and friends.

The groom’s mother and father hosted a rehearsal dinner May 15 at Chris’s Cosmic Kitchen in Wilmington.
