Stephanie Leigh McLamb of Meadow and Edward Scott Williams of Mount Olive exchanged vows May 16 at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church, with the Rev. Doug Abel and the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lee McLamb of Meadow and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton B. McLamb of Meadow and Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill E. Peacock of Benson.

She is a 2004 graduate of South Johnston High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and political science.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Williams of Mount Olive and the grandson of Joseph Cyrus Cox, the late Merlene Graham Cox, the late Robert Alexander Williams and Lois Westbrook Williams.

He is a 1991 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a graduate of Wilson Technical Community College with an associate degree in fire protection. He is a captain with Jordans Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and is employed by Wilco Transportation Services and is co-owner of WTS Express.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.

She wore a champagne Alencon lace bridal gown with sheer lace shoulder straps. It had a V-neckline in front and back. The bodice and skirt were fitted. The trumpeted gown was accented with a satin, champagne sash and silver-sequined appliqués. It had a laced chapel-length train.

Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil with a satin ribbon edge and a crystal and pearl tiara.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses, white orchids, white lilies and white miniature calla lilies trimmed with lemon leaf greenery.

Kelly Williams Hughes of Mount Olive, sister of the groom, was matron of honor, while Brandie Denise Everhart of Meadow was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Tara Blalock of Willow Spring, Natalie Masssengill of Four Oaks and Ellen Stanley of Wilmington, friends of the bride.

Robert Edward Williams was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were John McClenny, Murray McClenny and Scott Pfennig of Mount Olive and Richard Stephenson of Meadow, friends of the groom.

Honorary bridesmaids were Susan Alexander of Chapel Hill, Laura Caniff of Russell, Ky., Rachel McDaniel and Emily Packard of Morrisville, Amanda Watson of Raleigh, Katie Witt of New Market, Tenn., and Whitney Yates of Willow Spring.

Mckayln Emma Hughes of Mount Olive, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Jeffrey Surles directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Anna Allen and Carlie Young, friends of the bride. Kathryn Byrd and Diana Harrington, friends of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sharon Burnette of Benson, pianist, and Greg Tart of Benson, Diane Bailey Dyson of Garner, Tara Blalock of Willow Spring and Landon Sutton of Carbondale, Ill., vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Johnston County Agricultural Center in Smithfield. Clyde and Gail Barefoot of Meadow and Ted, Kathy and Myron Adams of Dunn, friends of the bride’s family, greeted guests. Ross Merle was emcee.

After a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple resides in Newton Grove.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party May 25, 2008; a wedding shower March 8 at Eureka Christian Church in Mount Olive hosted by family and friends of the groom; a wedding shower March 22 at Stones Creek Advent Christian church hosted by family and friends of the bride; a dinner party April 19 at the Country Squire Restaurant in Kenansville hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Charles McClenny; a bachelorette weekend including a dinner and lingerie shower April 25 and 26 at the home of the bride hosted by friends of the bride and the bridesmaids; a bachelor weekend May 1 through 3 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends of the groom; a Pampered Chef bridal shower May 1 at the home of the bride hosted by Kathy Tart Adams; a dinner party May 9 at Trinity Baptist Church hosted by Kimberly Lee Peacock, cousin-in-law of the bride; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 15 at Barrington House in Dunn hosted by Josephine McLamb, grandmother of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner May 15 at Stones Creek Church.
