CLAYTON — Jessica Nicole Bonney and Joshua Lee Head exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Wagner House, with Pastor Jim Kelly officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Laurie Underwood of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of George and Judith Bonney of Yorktown, Va.

She is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She is employed as a laboratory coordinator at Talecris Biotherapeutics in Clayton.

The groom is the son of Earnest and Carla Head of Goldsboro and the grandson of Ruby Head and the late Lynwood Head of Goldsboro and James and Margie Hatcher of Pikeville.

He is a 2000 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2004 graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is employed as an operations supervisor at UPS Mail Innovations in Durham.

The bride was escorted by her grandfather and given in marriage by her mother.

She wore a diamond white taffeta halter dress gathered at the bodice and waistline with floral beadwork on the bodice and an A-line skirt with a multi-pleated chapel train adorned with the same beadwork and beaded buttons down the back.

Her headpiece was a single-tiered veil adorned with crystals and white cymbidium orchids in her hair.

The bride carried a teardrop-shaped bouquet of pink stargazer lilies and green and white cymbidium orchids filled in by other small white pink and green orchids.

Lindsay Underwood was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Karen Lively and Amy Sawtelle, friends of the bride.

Graham Epps was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Wesley Reynolds, friend of the groom, and James Head, brother of the groom.

Christopher Underwood, brother of the bride, was the usher.

Kaylee Williams, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. John Williams, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.

Brenda Starek, aunt and godmother of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Deborah Lynch, aunt of the bride. Hank Bonney, uncle and godfather of the bride, distributed programs.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Wagner House.

After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple resides in Wilson Mills.

Events held before the wedding included a recipe shower April 11 hosted by Karen Lively; a bridal shower May 2 hosted by Laurie Underwood and Karen Lively; a wedding shower May 13 hosted by the brides work; and bachelor and bachelorette parties the weekend of May A rehearsal dinner was held at the Clayton Center.
