Tarla Cheri Hawley and Steven Brooks Rhodes exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 9 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, with Leroy Evans officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Evelyn Rose Johnson of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of William “Tom” Hawley, the late Joyce Ann Hawley and Carol Theresa Dail of Lucama and the late Allie Hugh Johnson of Wilson.

She is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in applied science-accounting. She is employed as a customer service representative at Future Financial Services.

The groom is the son of Steven Rudolph Rhodes and Phyllis Lee Cavenaugh of Goldsboro, the stepson of Daphne Rhodes and the grandson of Cecil and Mary Francis Davis of Mount Olive, the late Cleveland Rudolph Rhodes of Goldsboro and Roy Lee Cavenaugh and the late Janice Gaynell Cavenaugh of Fremont.

He attended Rosewood High School. He is employed with Tree Works.

The bride was escorted by Ricky Gray Baker and given in marriage by her family.

She wore a strapless Italian satin dress with a lace overlay and a sweetheart neckline and a cathedral-length train. Sequins and rhinestones embellished the bodice.

Her headpiece was a white mid-length veil lined with sequins.

The bride carried a bouquet of white baby roses.

Christy Hawley was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Amy Bonifas, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Christina Bruton and Carla Pierce.

Steve Rhodes was best man.

Groomsmen were Chris Grimes, John Whitesell, Chris Barletter, Daniel Hood and Brandon Rose.

Ushers were Brad Fletcher and Clifton Stevens.

Amber Hill was flower girl. Brooks Rhodes Jr. was ringbearer.

Loretta Quinn directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Brittany Harper. Kelly Rose and Jessica Pigford distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Beverly Sager, pianist, and Jeff Lane, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the punch and cake reception was held at the church and a pig picking reception was held at the home.

The couple will take a wedding trip to Disney World in June. They reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower at the home of the bride’s sister, Christy Hawley in Princeton, hosted by Ms. Hawley.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the church.
