Bishop - Hill
RALEIGH — Holly Susanne Hill of Raleigh and Matthew Earl Bishop exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 2 at 5 p.m. at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, with Minister David Mallory officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jeffrey Blaney Hill Sr. and Phyllis Hinson Hill of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Edward Ray Hinson Sr., Jean Taylor Hinson, Blaney Woodrow Hill and Pearl Biggs Hill of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1998 and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies and a minor in leadership development. She is employed as a specialty pharmaceutical/medical device sales representative with Johnson&Johnson.
The groom is the son of Robert Earl Bishop Jr. and Anne Wilkinson Bishop of Raleigh and the grandson of Myrtle Baker Wilkinson and the late Everett Shuford Wilkinson Jr. of Greensboro and the late Robert Earl Bishop Sr. and Eloise Gardner Bishop of Burlington.
He graduated from Wake Forest Rolesville High School in 2000 and East Carolina University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. He played baseball for the East Carolina Pirates before being drafted in 2004 by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played minor league baseball until 2007. He is employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative with Sciele Pharmaceuticals.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless couture duchesse satin ball gown. The rouched bodice was designed with hand-embroidered pearl and Swarovski crystal details interlaced along with silk embroidery. It featured a box pleating detail beginning at the waistline and continuing across the back of the chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil with coordinating embroidery and Swarovski crystal detailing.
The bride carried an all-white clutch bouquet of tulips, roses, mini calla lilies, hydrangea and stephanotis with pearl heads wrapped in an ivory satin wrap with pearl accents.
Amy Hill Miller of Wake Forest was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Carrie Evelyn Bell of Greensboro, Kelly Brooke Graham of Raleigh, Jessica Grady Grant of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, Megan Stanley Kesler of Greensboro, Jennifer Byrd Pfaadt of Atlanta, Ga., and Lindsey Rae Sauls of Raleigh, cousin of the bride.
Zachary Everett Bishop of Holland, Pa., was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Daniel Michael Caldwell, Jacob Andrew Gaetti and James Clifton Paige IV of Raleigh; Derek Ron Drage of Green Bay, Wisc.; Jeffrey Blaney Hill Jr. of Goldsboro, brother of the bride; and Eric Glenn Sauls of Raleigh, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were John Alexander Chaffee of Charlotte, cousin of the groom; Matthew James Guillory of Lake Charles, La.; Adam Taylor Hinson of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; and Brent James Miller of Wake Forest, brother-in-law of the bride.
Pfeifer Grace Hill, cousin of the bride, and Hannah Jean Miller, niece of the bride, were the flower girls. Connor Stephen Bishop, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wayne Williams of Goldsboro directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Crawford of Raleigh. Hope Hill Gibson of Hampstead, aunt of the bride, was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark Wildcherry, organist; Craig Hanemann, Matt Evans, Kevin Yen, and Mark Foster, string quartet; the Hillyer Memorial Church Choir; and Jenny McPherson Dameron of Raleigh, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception was held at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party June 28 in Raleigh hosted by Carrie Bell, Kelly Graham, Megan Kesler, Amy Miller, Jennifer Pfaadt, Lindsey Sauls, Melissa Sullivan and Angie Whitener; a his/hers shower Nov. 8 in Wake Forest hosted by Amy and Brent Miller; a bridal shower March 1 in Raleigh hosted by Jody Chaffee, Jo Ellen Loy, and Barbara Sigmon; a monogram shower March 21 in Raleigh hosted by Kelly Graham and Megan Kesler; a bridal shower March 29 in Goldsboro hosted by Caroline Hinson, Amy Miller, and Lindsey Sauls; a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 1 at Brio Tuscan Grille in Raleigh hosted by Becky Byrd, Jennifer Pfaadt, and Lynn Sauls; a bachelor weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., hosted by the groomsmen; and a bachelorette weekend in Savannah, Ga., hosted by the bridesmaids.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Caffe’ Luna in Raleigh.
