MOREHEAD CITY — Rebeccah Renae Kearney and Franklin Porter Floyd exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Williams and the Rev. T.C. West officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Noah Dwight and Donna Moore Kearney of Seven Springs and the granddaughter of Shelby Davis Kearney and the late Johnny “Bird” Kearney, the late Clayton Roscoe Moore Sr. and Dorothy Sasser Moore of Seven Springs.

She graduated from Spring Creek High School in 2005 and Wayne Community College in 2007 and attends East Carolina University for a degree in elementary education.

The groom is the son of Gerald Franklin and Donna Wetherington Floyd of Kinston and the grandson of Thomas Willis Floyd Sr. and Ruby Moss Floyd of Henderson and Jean Morton Wetherington and the late Malcolm Thomas “Tommy” Wetherington of Morehead City.

He graduated from North Lenoir High School in 2001 and East Carolina University in 2005 and 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and a Masters in Business Administration.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a stunning silk taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline embellished with Swarovski crystals and sequins covering the entire bodice. The ballgown skirt featured pick-ups throughout and was completed with a front panel embellished with matching crystals and sequins. The back of the gown flowed in to a semi-cathedral-length train.

Her headpiece was a single-layered cathedral-length veil with a pencil edge that flowed down the back of the dress with a pearl and Swarovski crystal tiara.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of red roses accented with white freesia.

Mandy Kearney was her sister-in-law’s matron of honor, while Anna Kearney, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Tonya Lynch, Laura Smith, Emily Thompson, Nicole Fowler and Jessica Decker, friends of the bride.

Gerald Floyd was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Gerry Floyd, brother of the groom; Noah Kearney, brother of the bride; and Chris Decker, Thomas Ipock, Tim Savage and Brandon Curran, friends of the groom.

Ushers were Casey Best and Wesley Spence.

Josie Anne Kearney, niece of the bride, was the miniature bride. Jacob Lynch, friend of the bride, was the miniature groom.

Kayla McDonald, cousin of the bride, and Elizabeth Lynch, friend of the bride, were flower girls. Jerry Bradley, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.

Honorary bridesmaids were Donna Merritt, Desiree Houston and Christie Bradshaw.

Samuel Bradley, cousin of the groom, was bell ringer.

Jan Raecher, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Amber Reynolds, cousin of the groom. Sara Dawson, friend of the couple, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Brenda Moore, aunt of the bride, pianist, and Jay and Ann Ham, vocalists.

Thomas Floyd Sr., grandfather of the groom, was Scripture reader.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception and dance at Crystal Coast Civic Center.

After a wedding trip to Sandals Grande Antigua, the couple resides in Kinston.

Events held before the wedding included a gift card shower Feb. 8 hosted by Bethel United Methodist Church; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Feb. 7 hosted by Jan Raecher; a gift card shower Feb. 6 hosted by Tonya Lynch and co-workers; a Pampered Chef shower Jan. 17 hosted by Desiree Houston; a bachelor weekend Jan. 16 through 18 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by Patrick Phillippe and Stacey Branch; a Christmas shower Jan. 10 hosted by Glenda Lynch, Larkin Ramsey, Sarah Lynch, Tonya Lynch, Cherry Sutton and Stella Barker; a bridal shower Dec. 13 hosted by ladies of Walker Memorial United Methodist Church; a lingerie shower Nov. 8 hosted by Desiree Houston; a tool and garden shower Oct. 25 hosted by Patrick and Leigh Phillippe and Stacey and Tina Branch; a bachelorette weekend Sept. 26 through 28 in Myrtle Beach hosted by Anna Kearney, Mandy Kearney and Donna Merritt; and a girls’ night Sept. 20 hosted by Tonya Lynch and Tammy Smith.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Feb. 13 at the Channel Marker Restaurant at Atlantic Beach.
