PITTSBORO — Rachel Sherice Brown of Cary and Charles Geoffrey Butterfield Rankin of Cary exchanged vows in an outdoor candlelight double-ring ceremony Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Gardens of Fearrington, with Pastor Ed Drew officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Billy D. and Karen Sauls of Eureka and Mitchell R. Brown of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the granddaughter of Billy E. and Myrtie Sauls of Eureka, Billy Paul and Doris Collins of Somerset, Ky., and the late William H. and Hazel Brown of Ice, Ky.

She is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and North Carolina State University with a degree in zoology. She is employed as a research scientist at Talecris Biotherapeutics in Research Triangle Park.

The groom is the son of Bruce A. and Shelly Rankin of West Chester, Ohio, and the grandson of Margaret Rankin and the late Craig Rankin of Cavendish, Vermont, and the late Richard and Mary Butterfield of New York, N.Y.

He is a graduate of Principia Upper School in Missouri and Queens University with a degree in business administration and marketing. He is owner and president of Rankin Commercial Properties in Raleigh.

The bride was escorted by her fathers and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory Princess seam poult gown.

Her headpiece was a one-tiered silk cathedral-length veil with a satin cord edging.

The bride carried a hand-tied cascading bouquet of white cymbidium orchid blossoms.

Dee Bartlett and Jennifer Pittman were their friend’s maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mary Villoch, sister of the groom; Wendy Rankin, sister-in-law of the groom, and Miranda Gurley, Heather Stout and Megan Brown, cousins of the bride.

Chris Rankin was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Andre Villoch, brother-in-law of the groom, and Coleman Carter and Rich Petress, friends of the groom.

Travis Gurley, cousin of the bride, was the usher.

Savannah Collins, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Abigail Stout and Kylie Cornett, cousins of the bride, were flower girls.

Mary Villoch and Chris Rankin were readers.

A program of wedding music was provided by a string trio.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a cocktail hour on the garden terrace and a dinner reception in Fearrington Barn. Billy Sauls, father of the bride, greeted guests. Larry Collins, uncle of the bride, gave the blessing.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon at Stonewood Grill in Cary hosted by Myrtie Sauls, grandmother of the bride and a groom’s luncheon at Hibernians Irish Pub in Cary hosted by Chris Rankin, brother of the groom.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Cafe Luna in Raleigh.

After a wedding trip to Aspen, Colo., the couple resides in Cary.
