WHITAKERS — Paula Michelle LaBar of Nashville and Garry Lee Singleton of Nashville exchanged vows in an outdoor double-ring ceremony Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at the home of the bride’s mother, with Pastor John Earnest officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael LaBar of Tarboro and Pauline LaBar of Whitakers and the granddaughter of Maxine LaBar and the late Jake LaBar of Rocky Mount and the late Alvin and Raymonde Stroh of Grand Forks, N.D.

She graduated from Northern Nash High School in 2000 and attended Nash Community College. She is employed as a night manager at Griffins Food Store in Red Oak.

The groom is the son of John and Karen Earnest of Pikeville and Ronnie Singleton of Goldsboro and the grandson of Barbara Stone, the late Gene Stone, Mildred Singleton and the late Alvin Singleton of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Earnest of Hardy, Ky.

He graduated from Northern Nash High School in 1997 and attended Nash Community College and Wilson Technical College. He is employed as furniture manager at Big Lots of Wilson.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white satin gown with a corset back. It had a halter neckline embellished with embroidery, beads and Swarovski crystals. The apron skirt had a tulle insert adorned with embroidery, beads, lace and Swarovski crystals. The empire waistline was accented with a pleated red rash that continued into an embellished sash runner that fell to the length of the bejeweled chapel train.

Her headpiece was a single-layered fingertip-length veil with a rolled edge in white with sparkling crystal flower groupings scattered along the edge consisting of Swarovski crystals, bugle beads and pearls.

The bride carried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath.

Jessica Gregor of Jamestown was her aunt’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Melanie Coley and Wendy Gupton of Rocky Mount, friends of the bride.

Michael Taylor of Rocky Mount was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Adam Coley and John Kermon of Rocky Mount, friends of the groom.

Ushers were Sean McMullen of Nashville, friend of the groom, and Avery and Ian Montgomery of Burlington, nephews of the bride.

Elizabeth Carter of Pikeville, niece of the groom, and Hillary Montgomery of Burlington, niece of the bride, were flower girls. Joey Gregor of Jamestown, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.

Dana Gregor of Jamestown, sister of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Megan Wadsworth of Whitakers. Ian Montgomery distributed programs.

Following the ceremony, an outdoor reception was held. Karla Carter of Pikeville, sister of the groom, and Debbie Kimbrell of Pikeville, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake.

After an historical wedding trip to Williamsburg, Norfolk and Yorktown, Va., the coast of North Carolina, Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., the couple reside in Nashville.

Events held before the wedding included a shower Sept. 28 at Fellowship Praise Church of Rocky Mount hosted by Karen Earnest, Barbara Stone, Karla Carter, Debbie Kimbrell and Jeanette Coppedge.

The groom’s parents hosted a pig picking rehearsal dinner at the home of the bride’s mother.
