Jessica Rae Lail and John Wade Kelly exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 12 at 5 p.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Fulkerson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Timothy and Delores Lail of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Forrest and Shirley Lail of Greensboro and Buddy and Joyce Ensley of Greensboro.

She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2004 and from North Carolina State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a minor in sociology.

The groom is the son of Gary and Katherine Kelly of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and the grandson of Stella Kelly and the late Clyde Kelly of Joyner, Tenn., and Barbara Moon and the late Dr. Ralph Moon of Oak Ridge.

He is a 2003 graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee and a 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University with bachelor of science degrees in electrical and computer engineering and a 2008 graduate with a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering as a Tau Beta Pi Fellow. He is employed as an NCSEG Fellow and as a Ph.D. candidate at Carnegie Mellon University.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless ivory gown embroidered with crystal beading on duchess satin with a dropped waist. The embroidery cascaded down the back of the gown and encircled the hemline. The empire and hemline were trimmed with double bands of duchess satin and a flowing chapel-length train.

Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil with a blusher trimmed in crystal embroidery with a crystal and pearl tiara.

The bride carried a bouquet of cream roses, stephanotis, orchids and daisies, which were in her mother’s and grandmothers’ bouquets when they were married.

Katie Lail was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ginny Narron, Morgan Dunlap, Abby Ginn, Teresa Rouse, Callie Childs, Pamela Counsell and Amber Stewart.

Gary Kelly was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Patrick Kelly, brother of the groom, Barry Kaldenbach, Michael Barkman, Chadwick Thompson, Kevin Wood, Micah Reyes and Kyle Pressel.

Betty Cassidy directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Emily Lashley and Dina Gambella. Grace Northington distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Thomas Shaw, vocalist; Dave Periconi, organist; James Childs, guitarist; and Doug Tart, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Collis and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sears greeted guests.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, West Indies, the couple reside in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon July 11 at Kinston Country Club hosted by Shirley Lail and Darlene Whitfield; a barbecue July 10 hosted by Tom and Lynne Shaw, neighbors of the bride, and Megan and Thomas Suddarth; a bridal shower June 8 at the home of Jane Bartlett in Goldsboro hosted by friends of the bride’s family; a bachelorette party June 6 in Raleigh hosted by the bridesmaids; a bridal shower May 17 in Oak Ridge hosted by Mary Ann Moon and Brenda Shelton, aunts of the groom; and a couples’ shower May 3 in Raleigh hosted by the bridesmaids.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Puppeta’s Italian Restaurant.
