OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Keri Brooks Thornton and Austin Purefoy “A.P.” Currin III exchanged vows in a double-ring oceanside ceremony April 19 at 2:30 p.m., with Tony Lewis and the Rev. Marshall Neathery officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Harvey Preston Jr. and Carolyn Wooten Thornton of Grantham and the granddaughter of the late Harvey Preston Sr. and Bessie Jordan Thornton of Grantham and James Edward and Marjorie Lancaster Wooten and the late Ida Lee Pope Wooten of Goldsboro.

She is a 1998 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She attended East Carolina University. She is employed as an executive assistant at the University of North Carolina Healthcare.

The groom is the son of Austin Purefoy Jr. and Linda Hester Currin of Oxford, the grandson of Dorothy Currin and Cleva Hester, the late Austin Purefoy “A.P.” Currin Sr., the late Landis Hester and the late Hortense Hester of Oxford.

He is a 1998 graduate of J.F. Webb High School and East Carolina University with honors in construction management. He is employed as owner and operator of APC Construction.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a toe-length white strapless satin pick-up gown with a white accented ribbon at the waist.

Her headpiece was a two-tiered veil with a white corded edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of white gerber daisies tied with a black and white polka dotted ribbon.

Paige Lewis of Raleigh, NC was her sister’s matron of honor, while Kristi Thornton of Grantham, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Stacy Currin of Oxford, sister of the groom, and Claire Anderson of Charlotte and Michele Best of Grantham, friends of the bride.

Austin Currin was best man.

Groomsmen were Gerry Goubran of New Orleans, La., Watkins Barker of Greenville, Josh Simpson of Bluffton, S.C., Josh Harrison, Daniel Talley from Oxford, friends of the couple.

Kalyn Lewis and Addison Lewis of Raleigh, nieces of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Mckalyn Hughes of Grantham, family friend of the bride, was flower girl.

A program of wedding music was provided by Renette Dupree, aunt of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Isles Restaurant.

After a wedding trip to Ocracoke Island, the couple reside in Oxford.

The bride’s parents will host a wedding event in July.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding shower May 18 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Williams hosted by Brenda Williams, Kaye Harrell and Ethel Britt, friends of the bride’s mother, and Violet Thornton, Mrs. Judy Coker, Frankie Capps and Kathy Thornton, aunts of the bride; an engagement party March 29 at the Wildlife Club in Oxford hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jason Capps, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Currin, Josh Harrison, Charlie Cox and Jeff Elliot, friends of the couple; a wedding shower March 9 at Tabb Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by ladies of the church; a wedding shower March 2 at the home of Frankie Marks hosted by friends and family of the groom’s mother; and a wedding party March 1 at Tabb Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by aunt and uncle of the groom.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 18 at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach.
